Typical forests of midslope, south facing, cut over. Quercus rubra, Liriodendron tulipifera, Carya ovalis, Sassafras. Moderately rich herb layer, open shrub. Herb layer tall, lush forbs. Rocky, but not boulderfield. Largest trees are Liriodendron tulipifera (70+cm dbh), Quercus rubra (40+ cm dbh). Also Cercis, Tilia, and a little Fraxinus.
Directions to plot: Civic Park (Ewing) trail N to major switchback around 2600 ft. contour. Follow contour to plot - approx. 240 degrees and 0.5 mile. Tagged tree is a Liriodendron tulipifera of 76 cm dbh with tag #152. Conduit is at a bearing of 207 degrees and 8.4 m from tree. Tree tag is at base of tree. Orange flag left behind.
